Eye Emergencies

At Blinking Owl Eye Care, we understand that eye emergencies can be alarming and require prompt attention. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, contact our office immediately. For severe emergencies, call 911 or seek urgent medical care.


Symptoms to Watch For:

  • Sudden vision loss or changes in vision

  • Eye pain or discomfort

  • Severe redness or irritation

  • Light sensitivity

  • Flashes of light or floaters

  • Foreign object in the eye

  • Chemical exposure to the eyes

  • Swelling or discharge

  • Trauma or injury to the eye

Common Eye Emergencies:

Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis):

  • Redness, itching, and discharge

  • Highly contagious in some cases

  • May require prescription medication

Red Eye:

  • Can be caused by infections, allergies, or irritation

  • Persistent redness may indicate a more serious condition

Foreign Object in the Eye:

  • Do not rub the eye

  • Rinse gently with clean water

  • Seek immediate medical attention if irritation persists

Flashes and Floaters:

  • May indicate retinal detachment

  • Requires urgent evaluation
